A sneak peak of a couple of the 10×10 canvas pieces I am working on for my show in June. I have others in various states of progress, and will snap in couple of weeks when they are further on. The theme, needless to say is the sea. Oh, and regarding the painting below. Luke thinks I should leave it as it is, I think I should at least outline the outer bands in black like the wave. Thoughts?

These are gorgeous !!!! I really like your wave design, when I saw it on Facebook I just had to come over here & comment. This is truly lovely. I love the flowing lines & the different blues are very soothing. The contrasting design/textures add just enough life to it. The crest of your wave makes you want to take shelter under it, helped along with your…and God forgive me for using this overworked term….very Zen-like colors.
A beautiful work of art hon, one to be proud of.
Lauren, this is truly fabulous feedback, thank you so much. I do however, now need your help. I am in a quandry to know how to procede with it. I was going to outline the outer bands in black like the blue wave, and maybe add a little texture inside. However, my hubby thinks I should leave it exactly as it is. I do still think I should add at least the outlines. What do you think?
And, thank you π
xx
Hi Lorrie,
I hate to agree with your husband… but… I, too, like the radiating bands just as they are. I think painting black lines would lessen the dramatic effect of the center wave.
You could continue adding texture to the outer curls of the wave, though…
But ultimately, it’s your call of course. π
Very conflicted. Though I quite like the simplicity and dynamic of the radiating bands in contrast to the blue, I also see it as unfinished. I don’t know. I rather like the outer blue left empty though I think..
*sucks teeth*
Wonderful paintings !! I would leave it as it is as well π
Thank you Baa, that does help, and would seem to be the overwhelming consensus, I feel I should bow to the pressure. π
I love that design. I prefer the outer blue part of the wave outlined, but I feel that adding black lines to the radiating bands would detract from the dramatic affect of the central wave. That’s just my opinion, though, and I’m no artist x
Hi there Gail…
So, basically…leave it exactly as it is then? That’s the consensus, and I think it best to follow everyones advice, as it’s so heavily weighted in that direction.
Right then, best get on and varnish it. π
Cheers hun xx
Quite simply, if I had the cash, I would want to buy them both. Gorgeous design, gorgeous colours, gorgeous details. And if you outline those lines in black, I’ll wring your neck!!! NOT having the outlying colours outlined portrays the roll of the wave against its ocean background. Leave well alone – it’s fabulous. xx
Okey dokey…but, should I fill in the outer band of the blue wave do you think? Luke thinks no, Tara thinks yes…I am not sure.
Thanks for posting peaches
x
No; I’d leave well alone and move on.
It’s perfect and well balanced as it is :))
…and no outlining on the circles piece either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Noooo..that will definitely be filled in, as it’s being painted according to a specific theme, and it’s based on a Centric Diatom. You will like it when it’s finished, I promise you. π
Oh. Well ok then… *waits*
I’m with Maisy…leave it! xoxo
Thanks Rona, xx
