I would like to introduce one of my favourite artists (and a very nice person as well), whose unique and refreshing style of illustration, though very different to mine, I always find very inspiring and a delight to look at. Her name is Melanie Chadwick of Mellybee Illustration. Melanie’s style of illustration is very light, refreshing, quirky, individual and fun.
I met Melanie some time ago when she came across my MOO cards (on Flickr I think) and we struck up a correspondence. She was kind enough to feature my art on her blog last year.
Melanie has a degree in Fine Art, and has exhibited her work all over the country, her more traditional work featuring the landscapes of Scotland (where she lived for a while) and Cornwall, her current home.
Melanie has worked hard at creating the unique and quirky Mellybee brand, showcasing quirky illustrations ready for print, textiles and the web, and has been recently illustrating children’s books. Melanie sells principally from her Etsy shop, but her work can also be found in various venues and boutiques around the UK (check her Portfolio to find out where).
An active and enthusiastic blogger, Melanie enjoys participating in many online projects and collaborations and has recently been taking part in a ‘Zine Trade’.
Her work is very contemporary, incorporating many domestic themes and motifs of house and home, and many of her illustrations are rendered in the folk art style that is very popular today.
I love her work – it’s so cheerful and fun.
Going to check out her blog and flickr…
Jeanette, Melanie has started an affiliates/creative links page on her own blog. You should do the same and swap badges, it would be good to get this going and drive more traffic to all our blogs.
Beautiful work. I especially love the painting of the harbour and the tree. Wonderful 🙂
I know…such fun quirky art. I love her alphabet art in particular.
