The Postman Rings Twice

Wooden supplies to make lovely things

My irascible old postman had some special deliveries for me this week, both arriving the same day. I just love getting art supplies in the post, especially when they are for new projects. The first delivery were more wooden supplies for my new project (handpainted jewellery and items), and the second, my new Prismacolor Verithin pencils recommended to me by Jessica Doyle.

Wooden supplies to make lovely things

A fabulous addition to my already massive collection of pens, pencils, markers and fineliners (which really deserve a post of their own one day). I used to do an awful lot of pencil work, and still have the first box of water soluble Caran D’ache I bought as a student, though sadly most of the pencils are little more than stumps, and the tin is falling apart. It’s kept, along with my old tubes of gouche paint and egg tempera for sentiment.

You are going to love Verithins Lorrie! The leads are super hard and are great for detail.

I’ve been meaning to buy a few more wooden items to paint on. I’m almost out of boxes to paint.

I hope someday that we can meet in real life and make some art for an afternoon together!

      Hey there Jess

I can’t wait to have a go with them, I am really hoping they are at last what I have been searching for. Over the years I have gone through so many pencils, and mostly with constant sharpening to keep that sharpness for when adding tone and depth to illustrations.

As for the wooden stuff, I have been really lucky and found some fabulous suppliers who have been wonderful, and at very reasonable cost. It’s a shame that I can’t concentrate on the handpainting of wooden things right now, but other work is taking priority.

Anyway, you know Jess, the world is funny place and strange things happen, one day we will meet up in person 😀 You’ll see.

I take it it’s not just me that gets excited about pens and pens etc… and I don’t even use them that much! I really must find the time to.

Can’t wait to see what you do with all these goodies! 🙂

      Hey there Nikki..

You need to get yourself a pocket sized sketchbook and keep it in your bag, with some pens and get into the habit of doodling, it’s good for the soul.
