Making Things

10/07/2011

My little pink card holder

Hearts business card case

As well as painting and drawing, I like to sew, I find it calming and sometimes I like to make things as a way to relieve stress. My Grandmother, Gladys, taught me how to sew and embroider when I was a little girl. The very first thing I ever made was for her was a little bag for her hair grips, and she kept it in the pocket of her dressing gown until she was old.

So, I decided to make  little card holder for my business cards in felt, constructed and decorated with silk embroidery thread using blanket stitch.  It was fun, and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

I love this; such pretty colours and stitching.
And what a lovely memory that your Gram kept close all those years. xx

Thank you Maisy. I think about her an awful lot these days. 🙂
