Sketchbook

It’s so dark today, too dark to do any serious work. What’s on my desk? ‘Worklife 2’, which arrived today from Canada, my sketchbook, brushes and pens etc. The middle image is the large shelf to my left above my desk, with some pretty things on it.

The illustration in the first image looks great! – very detailed! How is the book so far? I saw it a while ago and have been considering buying it ^_^

      Hello there mate..

Well, I flicked through it when it arrived, and first impressions are…nice format, very professionally put together, fantastic illustrations etc, and very slick and easy on the eye. However, despite the ‘International’ lable, the majority of the artists’ are from Canada and the US, with a handful from Europe and two or three from Australia. The majority of the work is very much in the ‘folk art’ and late 50s and early 60’s retro graphic style, which is very popular at the moment. However, given that this is promoted as a ‘Directory’ of contemporary illustrators, that’s to be expected. I shall do a review (pretty much reiterating what I have said here) in the next couple of days and include some pics. I am glad I got this one, as it’s a nice collectible, but not sure I will buy it every time it’s issued.
