The other day (on Twitter I think), I come upon a rather smexy illustration magazine called Ammo. I was rather excited to discover it was UK based, and further excited by the fact that it was pretty cheaply priced and reasonable shipping (because, let’s face it, you are ALWAYS stiffed over the shipping). So, I order the back issue bundle, which got me issues 1-6 for £25. You can in fact order (from their online shop) whichever issues you like, but, given there are to date only seven issues it made sense to buy 1 to 6, so I will order issue 7 later.
So, are they any good? Yes, and I did read every single one. They are fab, excellent, gorgeous, shiny, smooth, and at 4×6 a perfect size for the hand, bag, satchel, sock drawer etc. Now, Dave Hughes the editor and founder of Ammo stated in the intro of Issue 1, that he experienced certain reservations about creating a printed magazine in this digital age, though I do believe the subsequent success has relieved those qualms. Yes, indeed. So, anyway, yes…even in this digital age, we like, love, and covet shiny magazines, especially quality illustration magazines like these packed with fabulous illustrations from the best UK illustrators around, both established and up and coming, which include excellent interviews. I wont list them all here, because there are LOADS . I suggest you go buy a copy/copies for yourself…now. There, done.
