As a result of reading a lot more art publications lately, both online and hard copy, e.g, Ammo magazine, Inky Goodness etc, I was put in the way of another excellent art mag, created by artists for children (ostensibly) called Anorak Magazine. Impressed with the artwork, themes, layout, content, and at £6 each being very reasonably priced, I ordered three copies for Orla (and me natch!).
The three I chose were ‘Vikings, ‘Friends‘ and ‘Birds‘. When they arrived I was very impressed. The print and paper quality is excellent, making them very durable (more like books than magazines). The artwork, stories and features are beautifully composed and illustrated. Not all the content is fiction, but includes articles also, both informative and educational, which were readable and interesting. Orla’s favourite was the Vikings edition, and we both enjoyed the ‘making a boat’ tutorial very much. In fact, the boats we made were taken to school for ‘Show and Tell’, and consequently I am ordering some more issues to donate to her school.
So, check out Anorak Magazine, from that link you can buy online, or visit one of their stockists. An excellent buy for both Orla and me, and I will be purchasing more copies soon.
