My love for sketchbooks, notebooks, journals and Moleskines is well documented. I have an addiction for them, particularly those handmade. I have posted pictures in the past pictures of my new ones, old ones etc. Whether I will get them all filled in my life time remains to be seen, but I will certainly try. When I get too many though, I often give them away as gifts to my daughter and friends (so look out for a little ‘giveaway’s soon). Last week I bought a gorgeous little handmade leather journal from Louise Knight of Jackdaw Bindery.
Below are a couple of pics of current sketchbooks etc. The ones on the shelf live in my studio next to my desk, and the ones on the table live in my bag, and go everywhere with me. Needless to say, the weight of sketchbooks, pens, diary, purse etc necessitates a fairly big and robust bag, but..I cannot go out with my sketchbooks, never have. This is a habit I picked up as an art student.
Why do I love sketchbooks so much? I think it’s the tactile sensation of holding them in my hands, the smoothness and smell of the paper, the aesthetic appeal of the handmade and the beauty of them. My addiction has grown since I was a small child, and I don’t think I will ever be able to resist buying them, and why should I?? 🙂
