What’s new? Art Shop + Ello + VSCO

14/10/2014

Long time no post I know. But, in my defense, lots of stuff going on! I mean LOADS! I have been a bad blogger this summer, but will make up for it soon. In the meantime…read on.

ARTSHOP
Closed all my Etsy shops. So, where am I selling my stuff? Well, on my own ART SHOP of course! It’s running on Woo Commerce, is secure and well tested, and the purchasing process is through Paypal. You don’t even need to be registered to purchase. I have some lovely new little pocket mirrors listed that are so pretty, some postcards and one or two original pieces. I will be adding more stuff soon, so go take a look.

ELLO
Yep, if you have caught all the latest buzz about the new social platform that is an alternative to Facebook, has no ads and is not about collecting your data and exploiting it, then yep, I am on there too!

Ello has many pros and cons. Cons are that it can be a little tricky to get your head around initially, but it’s not rocket science. People are making too much fuss about it’s usability. But, within half an hour of joining I had uploaded my avatar, completed my profile and posted. It does help to read the FAQ and Tips section. Trouble is, people are lazy.

Pros are as follows. It has a clean and simple ‘no nonsense’ lay out. Thus far it is attractive to those in the creative industries; artists, illustrators, designers, writers etc. Ello plan to include many new features, including a re-blogging feature (like Tumblr), which will be really useful, and media embedding and audio uploads, which will attract musicians.

So, if you are on there (and actively post, not just land grabbed your name), then give me a shout out, I may even follow you. 😉

VSCO
I created an account on the lovely and oh so elegant VSCO (Visual Supply Company) website.

Ostensibly VSCO is a camera app for Android and iOS, which includes photo manipulation features. You can add your images to your own grid feed, and/or post them to your various social networks.  However, though included in the list of social networks available on there, VSCO is not supporting sharing to Facebook.

You can follow other photographers on VSCO, however, you will not know who is following you, so it sort of discourages ‘tactical following’ to gain popularity. I have some seen some fantastic work on VSCO, and you can post other artist’s work to your social networks, thus supporting other creatives.

If you are interested, my account is HERE.

NEW EXHIBITION
Last but by no means least, I am working on a collection of new artwork which I intend to exhibit sometime in the new year. This will mostly be a collection of ink focused artwork, mixed media, embroidery work centered around a central motif. I am absolutely not saying anything more about it now, though may post some teasers over the coming months.

So, thanks for reading and see you soon.
