I love, really love haberdashers,  (such an awesome word not seen much anymore). When I was a little girl my Grandmother would take me to buy fabric or embroidery silks, I would be entranced by all the brightly coloured bolts of cloth, buttons, silks, ribbon, yarn, zip, needles, sewing baskets, etc. Even now, I still become quite excited by all the possibilities that a haberdashers/craft shop has to offer.

My two favourites in Chichester are both independent concerns, one is called Clothkits situated in 16, The Hornet, at the east section of Chichester and the other is The Eternal Maker, located at 41 Terminus Road, Chichester.  Both sell a diverse and exciting range of crafting/sewing items in all shapes, colours and textures,  including fabric, buttons, yarn,  crafting kits etc. Both are utterly gorgeous, light, airy and a treat to walk around , a literal feast of colour and texture for the eyes.

I took my daughter and her best friend Daisy into the Eternal Maker recently and they were blown away,  running hither and thither so excited by all the colours. What attracted them the most were the buttons, in all shapes and sizes, the big ones almost the size of their hands fascinated them and I literally had to drag them both from the place.

I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area, as the staff in both are very knowledgeable and friendly. The Eternal Maker regularly runs workshops and craft focused coffee mornings.

Thank you. They are both very inspiring places to visit and it’s difficult to resist spending too much money there.

Love all the photos, so colorful. Makes me want to go there. You are very lucky to have something like this on your doorstep.
