I love the look of pottery when it’s ready to bisque, or has been and is ready for final firing. It always look so delicate and pale, just hinting at its promise…
So, this is a selection of recent pinch pots I’ve made (and a little cylinder pot) in various stages of development. Some have been bisqued and ready for a glaze and final firing, and others ready for a bisque firing.
All have been decorated with slip and underglaze. Some have had underglaze painted on before bisqueing, and some after. It’s all about experimentation at the moment.
I have absolutely loved learning about ceramics and pottery for the past year. So much so in fact, that I have signed up to do a second year of the course, so I can develop throwing. I now have plans to get my own kiln, so I can develop my hand building skills at home. I couldn’t have imagined that I would enjoy it so much and find it so rewarding. Whilst I have no intentions to abandon my illustrative work (though it’s taken a back seat lately), I will definitely be developing my ceramic work more intensively,
I am currently working on some more pieces involving hand building and will incorporate more illustrative motifs and designs. Additionally, I have some things I will photograph, which I plan to sell, given that people keep asking!
Thanks for looking everyone, hope you are all good and well…
