When making some rare changes to this site, I realised that I am one year away from a twenty year anniversary. I also noticed that it had been over a year since I wrote my last blog post. For this I suppose the reasons are many and varied, some fairly prosaic, others less so. Like most people these days I am suffering from mental exhaustion and intermittent depression. Whilst I am still drawing, it’s sporadic at best. Most of my energies are spent helping my daughter navigate her own Illustration course at college. However, that is not to say I have wholly given up on my own ambitions, as old as I am.
Given how rarely I blog or update, I had toyed with closing down my site altogther, after all, few people seem to maintain full websites and blogs these days unless they are selling something. But, I have had the site for such a long time now, it’s hard to let it go. I wonder also, given how jaded and disenchanted peole have become with social media, that maybe we will see a resurgance of the the blog. Who knows.
Anyway, despite everything, I feel I should labour on. To that end, I have archived all content prior to 2018, which was a LOT I can tell you (this may affect my SEO, though I am not inclined to care). You may think that leaves plenty seeing as I have allowed everything from 2018 to remain, but it amounts to no more than a handful of posts, which speaks for itself. I have also seriously pared down my portfolio and either archived or deleted all artwork created before 2020.
Still, onwards and upwards. I have made changes, will continue to do, and will endeavour to update more often.
To anyone out there still reading, stay safe and well.
