Birthday Round Up: Books and Boots

27/04/2014

Plants and Places by Angie Lewin

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago (seems to roll around very quickly these days). In terms of celebrating we kept it pretty low key as we have a lot going on all of us. I had already been treated to my new phone (the fabulous Samsung Galaxy Note3)  by my Luke, BUT I also got a new pair of Dr Martens (they are gorgeous), and a couple of books, one of which I bought myself and one bought by Luke. However, it’s not often I spend money on myself, and really only happens on my birthday. These days the majority of my money is spent on my daughter (naturally). Happy Birthday Artjunky.net

ArtJunky Birthday

Of the many things I have worked on in the last year or so, one of which I am most proud is Artjunky.net. Yesterday was our ONE year anniversary.  We set out to create a platform for artists, designers, those in the creative industries, of all ages and disciplines, both emerging and established, to profile their work, be featured, interviewed and connect with other artists through the website and associated social media accounts. I conceived the notion to start a new art and design platform, as I felt there was a section of the art & design community not being represented. It concerned me that I was seeing the same faces again and again, and that despite the evident talent of these artists, there were many, by dint of age, circumstances, background, lack of publicity etc, whom were simply not being recognised or being featured.

JFK - Secret Ops

JFK SECRET OPS is the untold American story. Everyone thinks he’s dead, they read it, they saw it, but in this gripping drama of America’s 35th president he’s alive and demands retribution to those who were involved in the conspiracy. Moral punishment has its price and JFK carries the burden alone to protect his country and family. Animation Expert Craig Frank invites all to be a part of this secret mission and make their pledge. Craig needs to work on this project full time and needs the financial support to produce this 120+ pages graphic novel in hardback. He is striving to get this out before the 50th anniversary of JFK’s incident in Dallas.
