Week 12 of 52 Weeks: Paints

28/03/2011

Painting, painting, painting. That’s pretty much it for me at the moment. All my available working time during the day, and any spare time I have in the evenings (which is a rarity) is spent in my little working room painting away (show in June..tick, tock). So, it seemed appropriate to feature some paints and stuff, and this is what’s on my desk at the moment.

Week 11 of 52 Weeks: The Beach at Bognor

20/03/2011

Orla's Sandcastle

Today we took a very rare visit to Bognor, so Orla could spend her voucher money at a toy shop there, and then went to visit our lovely friend Carol (who wont allow me to post a piccy of her) and Orla’s designated Aunty, so she could give Orla her birthday pressie. We then walked down to the beach. It was one of those odd days, not cold, but not that warm either..still good to get out in the fresh air. But, Carol still made Orla a little sand castle to her delight, so much so in fact that Orla bawled her eyes that that we had to leave it behind. She was only consoled by the fact that I took a picture of it. We led her away, gave her a cuddle and Daddy bought her a chocolate egg She is a funny little soul.

Week 10 of 52 weeks: The Princess has a Birthday

14/03/2011

On Saturday, our little girl Orla celebrated her sixth Birthday.  An exciting and fun filled event for her, and a poignant and deeply meaningful one for Daddy and me. It’s been a hectic, fun, terrifying, exhausting, joyful, wonderful, terrible, fantastic and eventful,  journey. This little person whom our lives revolve around, and we could not live without her. We reminisced the night before of the events of six years ago. The tricky pregnancy, the joys, the fears and expectations. Then, the mad dash to hospital, the 21 hour labour and nightmare epidural that ultimately resulted in an emergency c-section where my lovely husband sat and watched his wife be operated on for six hours, whilst clutching his baby girl and wondering what the future would hold for them both, possibly without me. Not the labour we both hoped for, harrowing for the most part, but some laughs were had. Then the long recovery; colic, then teething, her illnesses and on an on and on and on and on and on. It’s been quite a journey to say the least. And, we would do it ALL again in a heartbeat….oh yes we would.   Happy Birthday my Orla, we love you.

Week 3 of 52 weeks: Reaching out in the Cyber World

23/01/2011

It’s been a sombre week in many ways. Despite the hopes for a more positive and happier year, in the last couple of weeks there have been some sad losses, and one this week particularly heart breaking, and on that I will say no more. So, have felt little inclination to get out and about. But, Luke recently wrote a piece on his personal blog questioning how much time he spends on the Internet. He makes some very relevant and incisive observations regarding the value of Facebook, it’s pervasiveness, and it’s meaning in our lives. You can read it here.
