Against the Tide

10/06/2011

Tidal

Against the Tide She’s against the tide, against the tide again, wondering which way to turn. Rolling waves crash against unsteady legs, but still she stands. Pebbles protrude from the sand, obstacles in her wake, but still she walks. Caustic spray leaps at her eyes, but still she sees. Lingering, gnarly tentacles grasp and cajole, dragging her in and under. Kelpish tendrils entangle her, dragging her down. Through hazy waters colour and texture starts to become lucid; Cerulean to azure, turquoise to ultra marine and down, down, into the blue. Enraptured by bubbles, ripples, ridges and grooves, She lets them swarm around her, hooking her towards a vibrant depth. By Katy Lassetter www.chichestercopywriter.co.uk This beautiful poem was written especially for me by Katy for my exhibition entitled ‘Against the Tide’ at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts from June 13th to the 25th.
